Makeblock brings STEAM education to children through its wide use in classrooms, homes, and makerspaces.

Makeblock Academy develops teachers’ confidence by equipping them with sound pedagogical strategies and Makeblock’s best tools, Codey Rocky, the mBot series, and mBlock 5.

Connecting with Codey Rocky

Learners will have hands-on time with Codey Rocky and practice block coding on mBlock.

Learner Outcomes:

  • Identify the Codey Rocky’s features and classroom management
  • Identify mBlock’s features and practice coding

Complex Coding with Codey Rocky

This session is part 1 of a 2-part focus on strengthening and building the skills of beginner coders. Learners will walk away with increased coding confidence using mBlock and Codey Rocky.

Learner Outcomes:

  • Program Codey Rocky
  • Practice computational thinking skills
  • Develop basic ways to integrate coding into curriculum

Coding and Curriculum with Codey Rocky

This session is designed to extend learners’ pedagogical knowledge by introducing practical ways to integrate coding with Codey Rocky into the curriculum such as with the Engineering Design Process or Universal Design for Learning.

Learner Outcomes:

  • Build pedagogical knowledge for technology integration
  • Integrate coding into Curriculum including Social Emotional Learning

Coding Challenge with Codey Rocky

This session is designed for learners to apply their new learnings into a new situation and advance into the next level. Learners will debug a faulty code and add to the code in a collaborative setting with Codey Rocky.

Learner Outcomes:

  • Practice debugging, a computational thinking skill
  • Solve a problem in collaborative groups

Meet and Build with mBot S

This session introduces the mBot S. Learners will both build mBot S and apply their recently acquired coding skills.

Learner Outcomes:

  • Identify mBot S’ features
  • Build mBot S and program with mBlock

Complex Coding with mBot S

This session builds on the skills acquired in complex coding part 1. Learners will program mBot S using more complex programming language.

Learner Outcomes:

  • Program mBot S and build on coding skills
  • Practice computational thinking skills
  • Integrate coding into curriculum

Meet and Build with mBot Ranger

This session introduces learners to mBot Ranger, a more challenging robot build. They will not only build the bot but also program him!

Learner Outcomes:

  • Program mBot Ranger
  • Identify mBot Ranger features
  • Practice computational thinking skills
  • Integrate coding into curriculum

MakeX with mBots!

This session requires learners to apply all that they have learned in a MakeX style challenge!

Learner Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate coding skills
  • Practice computational thinking skills
  • Integrate coding into curriculum
  • Solve a problem in collaborative groups
